Abstract

The ignorance of periods and curves (called Sarkesh in Persian and defined as an oblique line used when writing Persian letters [K] an [G] ) in Persian old texts has caused troubles for both authors themselves and correctors. These are besides intentional manipulation of poems by poets themselves (like Hafiz) or dishonest writers. In one case, the absence of curves in Hafiz’ Divan and in two places and some other couplets considered by the researcher, has misled writers and correctors. For this, (the absence of curves), in two places, Ganj-e- Qanaat[the treasure of contentment] has been interpreted and recorded as Konj-e- Qanaat [the corner of contentment]. However regarding the conditions of inscription, the meaning and situation of poetry both in and out of the text, also considering the validity background of the compound in several traditions (like contentment is a treasure), the author of the present article decided that Ganj-e- Qanaat is the correct compound. In Hafiz’ Divan, this compound once has been used for punning and in other case the presence of a similar phrase [Konj-e- Donya] helped to correct the error. This situation has been observed in several couplets of other poets rectification
